Shaykh Mohammed Yamin Hossain
One of the founders of Darul Uloom New York, Shaykh Mohammed Yamin Hossain traveled to the United States of America in 1997 with the intention to establish an Islamic institute that would produce the future scholars of Islam who would be upright citizens and humble role models of peace and mercy for all in our blessed country. With the grace of Allah, the Supreme, he turned his dream into a reality by establishing Darul Uloom New York. He has studied for more than two decades under renowned scholars from all over the world. Currently, he is the principal of Darul Uloom New York and is involved in teaching and lecturing throughout the tri-state area.
Shaykh Michael Olivieri
Shaykh Mikaeel was a Puerto Rican growing up in New York when, at the age of 19, his life changed and Allah guided him to Islam. His desire for knowledge grew as time progressed and he decided to travel to Pakistan to study Quran and hadith at Darul Uloom Karachi. He enrolled into an Aalim Course at Ahsanul Uloom, Pakistan. After completing two years in Ahsanul Uloom, he transferred to Jamia Arabia Islamia Azaadville in South Africa. He spent five years there and completed his Aalim Course. He had the opportunity to benefit from great scholars in South Africa such as Moulana Fadhlur Rahman Azmi, Mufti Saeed Motara and the madresa’s respected Muhtamim Moulana Abdul Hameed. He is currently serving as the Naazim Taleemat at Darul Uloom New York and teaching various Islamic subjects.
Shaykh Suhel Teli
After graduating from Stuyvesant high school in 1991, Shaykh Suhel Teli attended Columbia University for three years as a Biochemistry/Pre-med major and achieved Dean’s List every semester. He took MCATS and scored amongst the highest percentile in the region. Directly before applying for medical schools, Shaykh Suhel Teli had the opportunity to pursue the Islamic sciences in Jamia Binoria, Karachi. He enrolled in the institution from 1994 to 2000. Some of the prominent scholars he has studies under are: Maulana Azizur Rehman, Mufti Atiqur Rehman, Maulana Abdul Majeed, and many more. He has been involved in propagating Islam not only in the United States but throughout the world. He has traveled to South America, Middle East, South Asia and Europe, delivering sermons and inviting towards Muslim reformation to live a life of peace and submission to Allah, the Sublime. Since returning to the United States, he has been a full-time teacher in Darul Uloom New York in Jamaica, Queens.
Shaykh Abu Zahid
At an early age Shaykh Abu Zahid studied basic Islamic studies in a local institute in Bangladesh. He then traveled to the USA in 1994 and enrolled into the Long Island City High School and after graduating he went onto study at the New York City Technical College, City University of New York. He completed his Associates Degree in Computer Information System from New York City Technical College. In 2002 he traveled to Johannesburg, South Africa to complete a six years Alim Course in the Arabia Islamia Institute, Azaadville. He did an in-depth study of the Islamic Sciences and received Ijaza (Sanad) in Hadith from Sheikul Hadith Fadhlur Rahman Azami and Ijaza (Sanad) in the field of Qiraat Hafs from Qari Yunus. His spiritual guide is Hazrat Moulana Abdul Hamid Ishaq Sahib who is a senior khalifa of Hadrat Maulana Shah Hakeem Muhammed Akhtar. He studied under many illustrious scholars such as Qari Ismaeel Ishaq, Muft Saeed Mutara, Mufti Muhammad Patel, and many more. Since 2008 he has been serving as an instructor in the Alim Course, the Director of the Alimah Course, and the Director of the after School classes at Darul Uloom New York.
Shaykh Ibad Wali
Raised in New York City, Shaykh Ibad Wali attended college on a full scholarship, majoring in Computer Science and minoring in Business and Liberal Arts. After graduating with honors, his desire to attain a higher education in the Islamic sciences drove him to enroll in the rigorous seven year ‘Alimiyyah program. In 2011 he graduated with numerous authentic certifications (ijazah) in various Islamic sciences including: Islamic Jurisprudence, Hadith, Tafsir, Arabic Grammar, Rhetoric, History and Spirituality.
Shaykh Ibad is the Director of Development and ‘Aalim Course Instructor at Darul Uloom New York. He is the Director of Darul Uloom Weekend Academy (DUWA), the Founder of Foundation for Islamic Knowledge & Research (FIKR) and the Resident Scholar at Hillside Islamic Center.
Shaykh Ibad currently lives in NYC with his wife and family. He is completing a Masters Degree in Middle Eastern Studies while teaching, delivering khutbahs, lectures and a variety of programs throughout the United States.
Shaykh Mohammad Mujibur Rahman
Born in Bangladesh and raised in New York, Shaykh Mohammad Mujibur Rahman completed High School and soon embarked on his journey to learn the Islamic sciences. He completed a six year Alim course at Darul Uloom Azadville, South Africa. He has studied under great scholars, receiving several formal authorizations (Ijaza) in the sacred sciences. He earned authorizations in Hadith under Shaykh Fadhlur Rahman A’zami and authorizations on the Ten Qira’aat (forms of recitation of the Qur’aan) from Shaykhul Qurra’ Ismail Essack. Upon graduation, he travelled to Deoband, India, where he attended the world leading Islamic seminary Darul Uloom Deoband and gained specialized training in answering legal questions under Mufti Habeebur Rahman Khairabaadi. He also received authorization by Mufti Yusuf Thawli in fatwa. During his stay in India, he studied under great ‘Ulama such as Shaykh Naseer Khan, Mufti Zafeer uddin Miftaahi, privately by both Shaykh Arshad Madani and Mufti Sa’eed Palanpuri. Upon his return to America, he resided as Imam of Madina Masjid in Manhattan, New York for a period of two years. Thereafter he took a one and a half years off to complete his Memorization of the Quran in Darul ‘Uloom Al Madania, Buffalo and is now serving as a full time Instructor at Darul Uloom New York.
Shaykh Manzoor Ahmad
Born in Peshawar, Pakistan, Shaykh Manzoor Ahmad started his education of the Islamic Sciences in Darul Uloom Karachi, founded by Mufti Shafi Usmani. He studied eleven years to complete his Alim Course uner the guidance of great Islamic scholars like Mufti Taqi Usmani, Mufti Rafi Usmani and Shaiek ul Hadith Sahban Mehmood. In 1998, he enrolled in Jamia Usmania, Peshawar to do his specialization in Islamic jurisprudence. After he completed specialization under the supervision of Mufti Ghulam Ur Rahman, he obtained admission in International Islamic University, Islamabad. He studied five years to complete his Bachelors of Art in L.L.B Sharia and law with honors. After graduating from the university, he has been teaching in various institutions in Pakistan. Since 2010 he has been teaching Islamic jurisprudence and principles of Islamic jurisprudence in Darul Uloom New York.
Shaykh Imtiyaz Asalat
A native of Guyana, South America, Imtiyaz Asalat graduated from Sheldon High School, Berbice, Guyana. He then embarked on a quest to learn the Islamic Sciences and enrolled into the Institute of Arabia Raiwind, Lahore, Pakistan where he studied for eight years. He was blessed to gain knowledge from great scholars like Hazrat Moulana Jamshed, Moulana Ehsaan Ul Haque, Moulana Abdurrahman, and many more. He was also blessed to obtain his Ijazah in Hadith from Hazrat Moulana Sarfaraz Khan Safdar. He completed his studies of the Islamic sciences in 2005. Upon his return to Guyana he rendered tremendous service for the community by teaching and propagating Islam in Hujjatul Ulama Darul Uloom Berbicen as the president of the largest Masjid in the region. He then migrated to the USA and became the interim Imaam of masjid Al-Abidin, Richmond Hill, New York. In 2008, Mawlana Imtiyaz joined Darul Uloom New York and has been teaching various Islamic subjects and is the Director of the Boarding Department of Darul uloom New York.
Shaykh Hafiz Ijaz
At an early age, Qari Ijaz Sheikh began his Islamic Studies by memorizing the Holy Quran in India. He later moved to the United States, where he enrolled as a full-time student in Flushing Muslim Center. He completed the memorization of the Holy Quran in 2002. After spending a year focused solely on strengthening his memorization, he enrolled into the Alim course in Darul Uloom New York. In 2004, he transferred to Darul Uloom Azaadville, South Africa where he ultimately finished his Islamic studies in 2009. He earned authorizations in Hadith under Shaykh Fadhlur Rahman A’zami and authorizations on the Ten Qira’aat (forms of recitation of the Qur’aan) from Shaykhul Qurra’ Ismail Essack. He also studied under the tutelage of many other notable teachers such as Sheikhul Hadith Moulana Fazlur Rahman Azmi, Mufti Saeed Motara, Ml. Abdul Hamid Ishaq, and Mufti Ruhul Amin.
Shaykh Mahdi Alam
After completing the memorization of the Holy Qur’an at Darul Uloom New York, Shaykh Mahdi Alam continued his Islamic education by enrolling into the Alim Course at the same institute. After some time he transferred to Darul Quran was Sunnah, New York and later completed his studies at Darul Uloom Azaadville, South Africa, where he had the opportunity to study Hadith under Shaykhul Hadith Maulana Fazlur Rahman Azmi. He then continued to study Islamic jurisprudence in the Iftaa Program for two years under Mufti Muhammed Saeed Motara. Thereafter he went to Markaz-ud-Da’wah al Islamiyyah, Dhaka, where he studied Uloomul Hadith for two years under Maulana Muhammad Abdul Malek. He currently teaches at Darul Uloom New York.
